The details
There are three main ways of leaving a ‘legacy’ to CROWS:
- If and when you plan to make a new will, it is relatively easy just to add a specific bequest (i.e. a specific sum) to CROWS. This becomes legally binding on your executor.
- You can add a specific bequest to your existing will, but you will need to sign it and get two witnesses for it to have any legal status.
- You can just write a statement saying you would like to leave a donation to CROWS and keep that with your will. It won’t have any legal status, but your wish can be carried out by the agreement of your beneficiaries.
If you are taking legal advice about making a will, they will advise on any format of an informal wish.
What ever you decide, it is a help to us if you would leave a note if you would like the donation spent in a particular area or on a particular kind of work. We will always try and work to a request, but please don’t be over specific!
We will talk to members of the family about whether there should be a public acknowledgement through our Facebook posts.
