Help With Our Funds

We rely on a coalition of funders with about 40% coming from individuals and groups of local path users. If you would like to make a donation, options for how to donate are set out below.

If you want to see the details of where our money comes from and how we spend it, look at our most recent accounts on the Charity Commission website. If you have any questions about helping CROWS with our funding, please get in touch by email

Donate using Just Giving

The simplest way to donate to CROWS is to use JustGiving – an easy-to-use secure online platform for giving to charities. You can use a debit card, credit card, PayPal or other payment methods. You can make one-off or regular donations. It is free to use, but there is an option to add a small ‘tip’ for using the platform.

Because we are a registered Charity, you can add gift Aid at no extra cost to you. For example with Gift Aid, a donation of £10 will be worth £12.50 to us.

Run a fundraising event

You may be already running an event and the idea of fundraising is an afterthought or you want to run a specific event for CROWS. Here are some examples of recent events people have run as a fundraiser for CROWS:

  • A local fell race
  • Afternoon tea
  • Music event
  • Wreath making session (photo)
  • Barn dance
  • Pub Quiz

Leave a gift in your will

If you have enjoyed walking in our local landscape and are planning to make a will, you might consider leaving a donation to CROWS for the maintenance and improvement of footpaths and bridleways in a particular area. Leaving a gift in your Will to CROWS, no matter the size, will cost you nothing today, but will have a lasting impact beyond your lifetime. Your Will is personal and we will never ask you to tell us your decision (although we’d love to have the opportunity to say thank you).

If preferred, any donation through a legacy can be completely anonymous, i.e. not shared with the general public.

We can acknowledge the donation on our blog entries for work done through the funding. We can also produce a plaque as an acknowledgement.

We will always agree the wording and format of any acknowledgement with you or your family.

Collections in memory

We have been able to respond to several requests from friends and family of someone who was a walker, runner or rider or someone who just loved our local landscape.

We are always happy to meet up with friends and family to work out a suitable arrangement, just send us an email and we will get in touch.

Here is a recent comment about our approach:

A finger post in memory of a local walker

“I cannot speak highly enough of CROWS. At a difficult time, they were sensitive to our needs.  CROWS post their work on Facebook and they checked in advance that it was OK to say where the funding was from.

As a family we were then able to share these Facebook posts with family and friends who had contributed the money. The finger posts are beautiful; they have been really thoughtfully designed. Not only are they direction markers, but they reference …… they are very special to us.”
