Volunteer with CROWS

Volunteer for work parties

Unfortunately, we are unable take on people on short term placements or wanting to work on weekends. Currently, our weekly work parties are on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

We can accomodate about four to six new people each year. This number ensures that everyone gets a good induction and adequate training to work safely.

We are enormously grateful and welcoming to new volunteers and we hope you enjoy sharing the experience with like minded people.

However, as we will be investing a significant amount of time (and possibly funds) in your training, we hope you will be able to commit to joining work parties on a fairly regular basis for the foreseeable future.

If you are still interested in volunteering for CROWS work parties, get in touch with your name and email address, and we will add you to the waiting list. When you get towards the top of the list, we will send you a short Expression of Interest form.  This will ask for more details and is the first step towards getting you on board as a volunteer.

To keep the waiting list up to date, we will write to everybody on the list once a year to ask whether they wish to be removed from it because their circumstances have changed or they have found another place to volunteer.

Volunteer to help us identify problems

We rely on path users to report problems to us. If you spot a problem on a path that needs sorting, please:

  • Take a screenshot of the location of the problem on a map on your phone
  • Take photo(s) of the problem
  • When you get home (or later), add these to a report form on our website.
  • Add some details about the problem (what does this mean?)

We have a well-oiled system for dealing with reports. They are passed on to a local volunteer to inspect, or if we have enough information, they will be added to our schedule of jobs. Unfortunately we don’t have the resources to routinely keep you in touch with progress.

Volunteer to help us with ‘back office’ tasks

We have a team of volunteers who help us keep the organisation going, helping us with:

  • Fundraising
  • IT
  • Finance
  • Social media
  • Publicity
  • Safety
  • Administration
  • Technical input

If you think you may might be able help us, please do get in touch so we can talk over possibilities.
