Collections in Memory – the details

Here’s a few frequently asked questions about collections in memory:

  • Can we request how the money is spent? We will always try and accommodate any requests. The necessity for the work will always be our priority and the cost of some types of work will be a factor. There are sometimes limitations such as needing landowner’s permissions.
  • Can we request where the money is spent? We only work in the Upper Calder and Ryburn valleys, but we will always try to accommodate a request for a specific locality.
  • Can we request a commemorative plaque? Yes, but it depends whether the amount collected will fund construction work that will provide a site to attach the plaque. We do limit the size of plaques so that they are unobtrusive in the landscape. We have some templates, but the wording is always by agreement.
  • Does an acknowledgement of the collection have to be public? No it can be anonymous. Every work party is posted on our blog, and the funder is usually specified in the post. This can then transferred to our Facebook page (currently  4,600 followers) and shared on local community pages. The inclusion and wording of an acknowledgement is always by agreement.
  • How do we collect the money and get it to CROWS? CROWS is a registered charity, so most funeral directors will arrange this for you and send your kind donations to us. Or, if you’d prefer to organise the collection yourself, you may wish to set up a JustGiving page, make a bank transfer or send a cheque. CROWS will provide the information for your choice.
  • How will we know how the donations have been spent? For significant amounts, we can provide a detailed breakdown of how the money has been spent.

If you would like to talk over anything about the possibilities, please get in touch by email with a contact number.
