Volunteer for work parties

Unfortunately, we are unable take on people on short term placements or wanting to work on weekends. Currently, our weekly work parties are on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
We can only take on about four new people a year. This number ensures that everyone gets a good induction and adequate training to work safely. As a voluntary organisation without paid staff, we have limited resources so are rarely able to increase the number.
We have a strong demand from people wanting to volunteer with us and at the moment we have seven on the waiting list. This will give you an idea of how long it will be before you will be able to join us, apologies for any disappointment.

If you are still interested in volunteering for CROWS work parties, get in touch with your name and email address, and we will add you to the waiting list. When you get towards the top of the list, we will send you a short Expression of Interest form. This will ask for more details and is the first step towards getting you on board as a volunteer.
To keep the waiting list up to date, we will write to everybody on the list once a year to ask whether they wish to be removed from it because their circumstances have changed or they have found another place to volunteer.
Volunteer to help us identify problems
We rely on path users to report problems to us. If you spot a problem on a path that needs sorting, please:
- Take a screenshot of the location of the problem on a map on your phone
- Take photo(s) of the problem
- When you get home (or later), add these to a report form on our website.
- Add some details about the problem (what does this mean?)
We have a well-oiled system for dealing with reports. They are passed on to a local volunteer to inspect, or if we have enough information, they will be added to our schedule of jobs. Unfortunately we don’t have the resources to routinely keep you in touch with progress.
Volunteer to help us with ‘back office’ tasks
We have a team of volunteers who help us keep the organisation going, helping us with:
- Fundraising
- IT
- Finance
- Social media
- Publicity
- Safety
- Administration
- Technical input
If you think you may might be able help us, please do get in touch so we can talk over possibilities.
